Keep Austin Moving!

Starting in October, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will start building one express lane in each direction on MoPac from Lady Bird Lake to Parmer Lane. The project should be completed in late 2015. The purpose of MoPac Improvement Project is to improve mobility, manage congestion, provide a reliable transit route to reduce travel times, improve emergency response and maximize use of the facility.

MoPac is a primary route to Downtown Austin, and carries more than 180,000 vehicles every day. MoPac is also used as an alternative to IH-35. It is estimated that by 2030, MoPac will serve more than is 320,000 vehicles a day, hence the need for the expansion.
